TellTheCEO terms for senders

Version 2026-10-terms-v1. A working draft, to be reviewed by lawyers before launch.

What TellTheCEO is for

TellTheCEO lets you leave a short video message for a company's leadership about something within their power to fix, change or praise. Your message goes to the company you choose; it is not published unless you ask for it to be and it passes review.

You are responsible for what you say in your messages. Don't say anything you know to be untrue, and don't include other people's private details.

Personal use only

TellTheCEO is only for personal and individual use: messages about your own experience as a customer, user, neighbour or member of the public. It is not a channel for lobbying or campaigning.

Lobbying or campaigning means using TellTheCEO to promote a cause, a campaign or an organisation's position, or to press a company on behalf of a group. It includes messages about the environment, politics, boycotts, or diversity, equity and inclusion, except where the message is your own, personal case and you are directly the person affected (for example, sewage flooding your own home, or how you yourself were treated).

Anyone who lobbies or campaigns through TellTheCEO will be billed £75 for each such video. Every message is analysed when it is sent; one that looks like lobbying or campaigning is checked by a member of our team before any charge, and you are told why. You can ask us to look again from your conversation, and the charge is refunded if we agree it was personal.

Until a lobbying or campaigning charge is paid, you can't send new messages. We may close accounts used repeatedly for lobbying or campaigning.

Your face, and 2 messages a week

Every message must show your face. We check it against earlier senders so that one person can't use several accounts, and so everyone keeps to 2 new messages a week. The check is never shared with a company.

Fees

Sending anonymously costs £3, refunded when the company opens your message. A longer show may carry a refundable fee, shown before you record. Lobbying or campaigning is billed as above.

Safety

Messages are screened. Sexual content, threats, abuse or anything criminal is removed and may be reported. A company can report a message, and our team decides.
